Onespot™ Allergy
October 23, 2009

We have recently discovered a new online company which offers safe living products. Their main goal is to improve the safety of people with food allergies and any other life threatening allergy.

Here is a brief introduction from the president about this new food allergy business.

Onespot™Allergy was founded in 2009 by Elizabeth Goldenberg, the mother of two sons, one of whom has severe food allergies. She wrote, “I completely understand the issues faced by people with life threatening allergies. My desire to protect my son led me to assemble a full line of products to help people stay safe and be prepared in the event of an allergic reaction.”

Elizabeth learned that it's safest for her son to avoid even trace amounts of his allergen and that every exposure is potentially life threatening. Three issues were apparent to her, so she developed the S-A-C approach to safer lifestyles:

•  She needed to put Systems in place to help her son avoid his allergen.

•  She needed to ensure he had immediate Access to epinephrine (an EpiPen®) at all times.

•  She needed to Communicate with friends, family, teachers, caregivers and team coaches to ensure they recognize the symptoms of an allergic reaction and know how to use an EpiPen® properly.

When Elizabeth began to look at what product options were available to make her son's life safer, she was disappointed with the product offering for people at risk of anaphylaxis. She noticed the need for a system for living safely with allergies, which applies not only to food allergies, but to allergies to latex, bee or wasp stings, or medication.

She added, “Your allergist will diagnose the allergy, but it's up to you to put protection measures in place. I would like every allergist and pharmacist to send his or her patients to OneSpotAllergy.com, because our products help patients stay safer and better prepared to live well with their allergy.”

Anyone at risk of anaphylaxis must have immediate access to medication, and the best way to ensure this is for the allergic person to wear a medication belt or holster. If a child's school does not permit children to wear their medication, then the next best option is for his or her teacher to wear it.

She said, “The issues encountered by people with allergies do not end at adulthood, and I ensure that my products are suitable for children or adults. I compare a severe allergic reaction to lying at the bottom of a swimming pool drowning. If you wear your medication on your body, people are able to immediately jump in to help you. If it's in your purse, backpack, office, or classroom, people have to run away to search for it or wait for paramedics to arrive, while you lie at the bottom of the pool waiting. Time is of the essence to avoid brain damage or death.”

Elizabeth considers herself the Chief Product Editor at Onespot™Allergy. She writes the product descriptions herself, and clearly sets out why the product is needed, how to use it most effectively, and why the product was selected as the best in its category. She stated “I don't like to shop, so I feel that I'm really providing a service by showing only my best picks to customers. They don't have to weed through the product options: I've done all the work for them. Every product I sell, I use in my own home.”

Here are her Must-have Allergy Essentials:

•  Medication Belts and Holsters - to be worn at all times when away from home. They are the most discreet belts available and are made from durable black leather, with belt sizes for small children to extra large adults. In the alternative, wear medication in a holster attached to your own belt.

•  Medication Hooks - As part of your emergency plan, always keep your medication belt or holster in an easily accessible location at home, so no time is lost searching around in the event of an emergency. Other magnetic hooks don't have the necessary depth and aren't strong enough to hold a medication belt or holster without sliding down.

•  EpiPen® Training Pen - This works exactly like an EpiPen®, but without the needle or medication. It's an essential tool to learn and then teach exactly how to use an EpiPen®.

•  Allergy Training Cards - Anyone caring for a child with allergies should be provided with a 911 script and emergency protocol card, an emergency contact information card, and food guideline cards.

•  Training Video - Parents will find themselves speaking frequently about their child's food allergy. Use this 15 minute presentation about food allergies, anaphylactic shock, and how it affects the body to educate everyone involved in the care of your allergic child.

•  Identification Products - These help you avoid accidental exposure to allergens. Use Onespot™Allergy label sheets to mark items (water bottle, lunch kit, table setting) for the allergic person's use only to avoid accidental exposure to allergens, or mark items for each member of your family. Onespot™Allergy labels are unique because they're color coded and made from food grade non-toxic materials. Elizabeth wrote “My labels allow my son to know what's his, so he doesn't accidentally eat something from the wrong dish that's not safe for him.”

•  Irritant-Free Products - For people with allergies, and those simply searching for the best irritant-free products in their category, Onespot™Allergy also provides feeding accessories, cleaning products, and pure beeswax candles.
