Top 10 Thanksgiving Resources

Welcome to the second edition of our Top 10 Resources. This month, we have been inspired by the festive season to celebrate and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with food allergies. With flavour of roast turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes and pumpkin pie, we have surfed the net to find the most useful articles, organization, tips and allergen-free recipes to share with our readers for a great and safe celebration.
At only few days of that very special weekend, we hope that you will enjoy a safe and joyful dinner with your friends and family!

1. Allergy Sense posted two useful articles for celebrating safely with your family and friends during this holiday season. Thanksgiving and Food Allergies by Lisa MacColl provides good tips for stress-free entertaining if you are the host or the guest. Also, Dr. Delia Chiaramonte shares in Handling Thanksgiving With Food Allergies, great tips and insights about preparing for Thanksgiving, and how you can help keep your children with food allergies safe through the entire holiday by explaining the most common problems and solutions during this holiday.
2. 12 Tips for a Safe & Savory Thanksgiving with Food Allergies from Gina Clowes of Allergy Moms is a great reading if you are seeking for advice. The author wrote a poem about the precautions of caring for a person with food allergies, proposed some useful allergen-free brands for your Thanksgiving dinner and suggested activities for the whole family. Also, their Food Allergy Free Thanksgiving Menu! is a good reference for a safe and yummy celebration with your relatives and friends.
3. On a more personal note, the article Happy Thanksgiving! from the author and blogger Kelly Rudnicki also known as The Food Allergy Mama explained a familiar situation for many. She shares her touching life experiences of having a son with food allergies and explaines how her family managed and celebrated together this holiday. The Food Allergy Mama's Baking Book and the allergen-free recipes posted on her blog will bring joy and happiness to your table for your love ones!
4. Kids with Food Allergies (KFA) offers survival tips with different approaches for this holiday in their article Celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday when your child has food allergies. Their Celebrating Thanksgiving with Food Allergies PDF is a free booklet which suggests craft ideas, activities, food and school planning ideas, and allergen-free recipes for a safe and fun Thanksgiving with your family, friends and school buddies.
5. If your child suffers of nut allergies, we have found a great resource from the blogger Jenny Kales also known as The Nut-Free Mom. Her article How to Have a Safe Thanksgiving with Nut Allergies posted on her blog is complete with tips to make it easier to cope during this 'nutty holiday' as she named it. As always, she suggestes some alternative options by proposing her favorite nut-free brands, manufacturers and activities for a safe and fun Thanksgiving.
6. Elizabeth Goldenberg, president of Onespot Allergy, has published in her latest November's Newsletter, an article to help people with food allergies, plan ahead and enjoy the holiday. Onespotâ„¢ Allergy Top Ten Tips For A Safe Thanksgiving PDF included several advice and preparation to make before, during and after the Thanksgiving dinner with your children and relatives.
7. Chicago Now published an article by Patricia Biesen titled Thanksgiving Allergy-free style. The author suggests some useful tips, from the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and named allergen-free brands, products and manufacturers to facilitate the life of the hosts and the guests to enjoy a safe and yummy dinner!
8. Alisa Fleming, author of Go Dairy Free, founder of Go Diary Free and blogger at One Frugal Foodie published Tips and Recipes for a Dairy-Free, Vegan, and/or Gluten-Free Thanksgiving. The article includes more tips, recipes, allergen-free products from special manufacturers to celebrate safely for this coming holiday.
9. If you are looking to prepare delicious and allergen-free recipes for Thanksgiving dinner, the author and blogger Anne-Marie Nichols from This Mama Cooks posted Thanksgiving sides : Lemon and Cinnamon Sweets Potatoes & The gluten free, no eggs, no nuts, no soy Thanksgiving. The pictures for each recipe are beautiful and the foods look delicious.
10. If you suffer of dairy allergy, Sarah Hatfield also known as No Whey Mama, posted on her blog her complete 2008 Dairy-Free Thanksgiving Menu which included traditional recipes like gravy, green bean casserole, rolls, raspberry jello salad, applesauce, relish tray and pumpkin pie. All that dairy-free foods should keep your guests happy until the next holiday!
Finally, to complete our Top 10 Thanksgiving Resources, we have decided to add one more resource from the Chef Lisa Williams.
