Book: Sophie-Safe Cooking
January 5, 2010

Sophie-Safe Cooking is an allergen-free family friendly recipe book.

Emily Hendrix, a mother of three, is the author of Sophie-Safe Cooking, a cookbook which includes 100 recipes free from 8 of the most common allergens such as eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy, tree nuts and wheat. This cookbook was inspired by her personal life story as her younger daughter Sophie was diagnosed with several food allergies.

She adjusted her personal diet to her daughter' food requirements without baking and cooking different meals for the rest of her family. This personal experience gave the author the strength to cook, bake and invent yummy recipes for the benefit and the health of her daughter and her entire family. The changes to modify the family recipes by excluding the foods that restrain her daughter allergies were not always easy to make at first, but result in this excellent and great guideline known today as Sophie-Safe Cooking.

The author has adapted recipes for the day-to-day family lifestyle. From basic recipes to breakfasts, main dishes, side dishes, salads (main dish salads, side salads, salad dressing) & desserts, this cookbook will become a great tool in your kitchen for planning delicious, healthy and nutritious meals. In addition, this cooking book includes ‘Customizing Recipes' section for a better understanding on how to modify recipes by considering your food requirements, allergens, adaptation and family preferences. This cookbook is a great encouragement for all families with food allergies.

Along the recipes, you will find useful remarks, tips and advice from the author to follow about specific ingredients, mixing and baking instructions, storage, freezing and leftovers. The ingredients are basic and can easily be found in your kitchen cupboards.

Finally, the recipes are simple, easy to prepare and ideal for special occasions such as birthday parties, school activities and holidays. If you are looking for more content, the author has provided complementary sections on her website about nutritional information for each recipe, her favorite allergen-free ingredients, her Thanksgiving menu and a FAQ section. The cookbook can be purchased on the website in a paperback version and / or an electronic version.

Sophie-Safe Cooking is a very inspiring cookbook! Remember that food can be delicious and enjoyable even for people with multiple allergies.
